Today we are diving into a new series. Okay, more like broadening our existing theme of LOVE here at TGS.
I learned a lot during the Spring Cleaning series and hopefully you did too. But boy, was I put to the test. Lemme tell ya. Last week was a doozy. It’s as though the Universe said,
Okay. You think letting go is so important? Let’s see how good YOU are at letting go.
Yeah. That was fun. Be careful what you preach ๐
We’ll still venture down the road ofย letting go from time to time because it’s SO essential for healthy living. But since QUALITY of life is what we’re most concerned with, we’re branching out to other areas that enrich our lives.
Life is a process. Not sure we ever arrive.
Seems we’re always making our way. Till our dying day.
Perfection is a noble pursuit, but is fleeting and rarely ever achieved.
So if you’re frustrated? Let it go. It’s a waste of precious time and energy.
Angry, sad, or stuck? We all feel it. You’re not alone.
Not sure what direction to go in? Just wait. Wait until you hear the answer and learn to enjoy the meantime.
Patience is highly underrated in our Western culture. Everyone’s in such a hurry but it’s in our best interest to slow down.
As Tony Schwartz saysย —
Speed is the enemy of depth, nuance, subtlety, attention to detail, reflection, learning, and rich relationships โ the enemy of much, in short, that makes life worth living.
If you’re looking for an excuse to slow down and simplify your life, you’ll love what he has to say inย Slow Down, You Move Too Fast.ย
But whether we run on high-speed, low, or somewhere in between, just know that here – you can let it all go. Even if for just one moment. And join in a community of like-minded people. Here to better themselves, and the world around them.
So feel the wind in your hair, the sun on your face, let it all go, and live a little. ๐

This is a wonderful post and exactly what I needed today. Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome ๐
Patience is such a lost art. I work every day on it. I no longer wish to run 100 miles per hour and dropped my life into low gear. Yes, I move slow now, but for no other reason than I choose to. Smelling the roses along the journey is not such a bad thing!
Good for you! Slow is the new fast ๐
Wise insights, as usual, Ingrid. There’s a reason patience is a virtue.
Hope this week is easier for you! ๐
Thank you George! Things are already better. Launching a business is no easy task but it’s coming along really well. ๐
It has taken me awhile to learn that I need to slow down everyday. I am a person who needs down-time. I don’t just like it, I need it. So I have learned to take it for myself. Sometimes it bugs me when other people say, oh you’re so lucky to get down-time, because I dont GET it, I TAKE it. I know that I need rest (not sleep) in order to function, so everyday I sit down, take a deep breath, and spend some quiet time doing whatever I want. Sometimes it’s TV, a book, a magazine, and other times it’s just staring out the window for who knows how long. But I can feel a difference in myself when I don’t take time to relax.
Me too Emma. Love that you said you TAKE your down-time. We all have more time in our days than we realize but we’re so caught up in the many distractions we have at our fingertips that many of us can’t see it. There’s always time to rest. Even if it’s just a 20 minute break in the middle of our day. There’s always time for just us ๐
Loved this post, Inge. We as a society do need to slow down and live life. It is so much better that way!
Love,
Mom
Yes it is ๐
The message I most needed was about what’s lost when we fail to slow down. Lately I’ve been feeling like a slow writer in a fast writer’s world, like I need to hurry up because if I don’t, everyone is going to leave me behind and my career will be over. That’s not the case, and we all work at our own pace. I need to focus on the benefits I get from being a slower worker ๐
And there are SO many benefits of being a “slower” writer. As the saying goes, “slow and steady wins the race” ๐
Letting go, slowing down and livingโinvaluable lessons we can easily lose sight of. Thanks for the precious reminders, Ingrid!
You’re welcome August ๐
Such a great reminder!! Slowing down has its own rewards, we have only to grasp it in our hands, and bring them to pass.
Absolutely ๐
Good to read this post today. As of the end of this month, I’m taking a “sabbatical” from community activism, for a year, to travel, write, read and play music. It’s hard to step away from the 1000-things-on-your-plate, not something most people get. Thank you for the Tony Schwartz link. Best wishes.
How wonderful! Best wishes for your year of travel ๐ I’m excited for you!
